Rose’s dad has just finished having “a talk” with her. She initially anticipated finally hearing about this new mystery woman in his life. However, it turns out they now have to sell Rose’s childhood home and move into an apartment. The idea of apartment hunting is foreign to her, as she feels like they’ve lived in their current home forever. She begins to reminisce and is surprised to discover what her first memory actually is.

My earliest memory is well about from I was 4 years old too. I think it was at kindergarden, and I asked why there was West-Germany and East-Germany. Why not call all Germany? And then I got told it was because Germany is split in half. I remember that very well because later when I asked again, I got a different answer “because we haven’t gotten the new map books yet”. Witch mean I have a good idea on when Germany was split and when it got back together.
I’m surprised that Rose’s first memory was from when she was 4. I wonder if that’s usual. I have memories from when I was 2! Though I can’t specifically remember which is first.
